Heavenly Father, you are a merciful and gracious God.  We are sinful
creatures, following after our own wants and desires.  Cleanse us and turn our desires towards you so that we are seeking after you.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen – Nikki Overfelt

Dear Father, creator of all, who hears and knows all needs.  I put my needs and self before you and your service.  My need has taken me away from your purpose.  Forgive me Father, and guide me to look for you and your guidance in all I do.  You ask for our whole heart, I will try and give it.  In the name of our Father Christ, Amen.

God of wonder and love, you are the one who heals, loves and helps us when we have nowhere to turn.  You provide us with everything we need.  Because of sin, we have put you inside a box and pushed you aside.  Help us to let you out and not push you aside at a time of need.  Give us the things we need to continue our walk with you.  Help us to never give up on the One who gave us life.  In your heavenly and amazing name I pray, Amen.

My heavenly Father, who is always there to listen and respond to me.  Who offers grace and forgiveness freely to me.  I have so many areas of sin within me, Lord, that sometimes I am not even aware of them all.  Sin in my thoughts, actions and sometimes no action or thought.  I ask your forgiveness, Lord, I ask that I may hear your whisper, feel that need to answer the call to follow you.  You have given me so much, Lord, each and every day.  I want to give your love, support and encouragement to others.  In your name I pray, Amen.

God of grace and glory, God of power and mercy, God of wisdom and God of the meek; you welcome us in our broken-ness, in our pride, and in our despair.  You hear our prayer and invite us to accept your forgiveness and this confounds our minds and raises our spirits.  We pray for understanding of your call in our lives that we may live in your will, that our lives might reflect who you are and glorify your name.  God, who’s boundless love is for all your people, we praise you, in the name our your son, Amen. – Marilyn Lawrenz

Loving God, your heart is huge and your thoughts are pure.  Your eyes see all
and your ears listen.  My thoughts are poisoned by sin and my mind is clouded like the sun on a cloudy day.  Forgive me of my sin, those I have committed knowingly and unknowingly…clear my mind.  I want to follow you, O Lord,
with my entire heart and soul.  In the name of your son, Jesus, we pray
with love, Amen.  – Nicole Evans

Dear Holy and Almighty God, who loves us very much, forgive us for our sins, over an over again.  Please help us to be better people, and to love You with our whole hearts so that we may come to know You better.  We love you God, Amen.  – Kayla Cissell

God of grace, your love was poured out from the cross to cover my sins.  With a vengeful heart I admit my anger toward a person who continues to hurt me and my kids.  Forgive my thoughts of retaliation.  Pour out your love over the sins which separate me from you.  You deserve to have me share you love with others – even when I don’t want to.  May your great love be ever before me, Amen. – Deanna Shepherd

Holy Father, God of Redemption and Grace, your love and compassion give me hope.  I have not worshipped you fully.  I have not done your mission to the best of my ability.  Have mercy on me, a sinner.  Give me the power to more fully embrace discipleship and to listen more intently to your word.  Through your son, Jesus who is my Christ and my light, I pray, Amen.

Holy God, who reigns over all kingdoms, your mercy, love and justice are perfect.  We are steeped in the sin of pride which corrupts absolutely and turns people against people.  Turn our arrogance to humility.  Help us to understand that you are God and we are not.  With your forgiveness, turn our heart to a humble life where we listen to you and act to further your mission in the world.  In the name of Jesus the Christ we pray, Amen.

God of all that is seen and unseen, you understand the connections between mission and the people who serve you in discipleship.  Many times you have nudged us, whispered plans and opportunities in our ears and given us chances to grow. Instead of taking steps towards you, we turn away, afraid.  We turn away to attend to our own needs. We turn away because it is not convenient or popular to take that next step.  Forgive our mistrust in your vision for our lives.  Help us to take those next steps toward a full life in You.  Give us the courage to listen to your call and move towards affecting change in the world.  In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen. – Deana Hartman

Merciful God, Father of heaven and earth, you hear us all, the old and young, rich and poor, strong and sick, ordained and common.  We ask you for forgiveness of our sins in the past.  We ask you for guidance in the future.  We ask you for love to protect us always.  Help us despite of ourselves to make sound Christian decisions and live a life as you did on earth.  Because we are dirt, merely dust, we choose to be like you.  In the name of Christ our Lord, Amen – Tim

Loving God, who is always here when we are down or feeling alone.  We sin against you and we have betrayed you.  We focus on the world around us and forget to live for you.  Lord, forgive us.  Help us to follow you.  You died for us.  You deserve for us to follow you.  In your name, Amen.

Almighty God, who hears our prayers and is all loving and forgiving, we confess that we have not loved you thoroughly.  We have not taken your word with us into the world.  We have sinned by allowing our selfishness to take precedent over our will.  Please forgive us of our sins.  Help us to live our lives as is your will so that we may better serve you.  In your name we pray, Amen.  – Valerie Meade

Merciful God, thank you for Your kindness.  God, please forgive my sins so that I can return to you with my whole heart. In gods’ name we pray, Amen.

Merciful God who listens to your prayers, sometimes we are too full of ourselves.  Forgive our sins.  Help us to lead a righteous life.  We love you Lord and pray for guidance. Amen.  Donita Blackwell and Diane Wilhelm

God all powerful, merciful God who still is a mystery to me.  I confess I have not acted on what you have asked of me.  Give me the courage to state and act on my convictions and challenge the status quo.  Let me challenge our conventional wisdom as stated in the Bible.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen  -- Bill Lucas

Dear Heavenly Father, I know you have a plan and a desire for me as a member of FirstLight’s community as a person, a mother, a sister, daughter, friend and worker.  I ask for forgiveness for the times that I have closed my eyes, ignored your whispers or what too afraid to do your will. Forgive me for my excuses and my fears and my non-action.  I pray that you reveal your desire to me.  Open my eyes, open my heart, open my ears, silence my tongue and the chatter in my head that distracts me.  Bring clarity and give me the courage to act on your desires for my life.  I pray that I would be useful to others according to your will in every opportunity.  Help me take steps forward.  Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and for the gifts and opportunities you provide for us to love one another. In Your name, Amen  --  Krystal Wright

Loving God, your honesty and knowledge brings hope to people in need.  Please forgive us and show us all the ways you are speaking to us.  Guide us and help us to continue spreading your word.  You’re a gracious listener and we will no listen to you.  We will continue to listen as you speak to us openly.  In your name we pray, Amen.

Heavenly Father, you are a loving and forgiving God who is still talking to us.  Forgive us, Lord, for not taking the time to stop and listen to what you have to say.  Please Lord, help us to find peace and to listen to our hearts for what you are telling us through your goodness may we find our hearts filled with your desire. It’s in Jesus’ name that we pray, Amen.  – Rene Evans

God, who loves us, who gave himself and knows our pain.  Forgive me for expecting you to always magically make everything better.  Forgive me for my apathy in my spiritual life.  Show me your grace for my unfaithfulness.  Through your love and care show to those in the faith community, may my faith increase.  All these things, in Christ’s beautiful name, Amen.

Loving and gracious God, who is always present in our lives and guiding us to be forgiving and merciful.  We are not worthy of your forgiveness, but through your love we are all forgiven.  Forgive us and give us the strength and love to live as you want us to live.  We know we have not given our whole hearts to you and we want to give our whole life to you.  Teach us to live as you want us to live.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Great God of all things, you unselfishly gave your son to atone for our sins.  Our lives are full of laundry lists prayers to you asking for ways to make our lives better or easier. Forgive our greediness and expectancy that you should give us everything we ask of you.  Guide us in understanding the picture bigger than our individual lives. Teach us to pray your will in our lives as well as our friends, family and the world. In the risen Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, Creator of all things, You have created life and have given it meaning.  We do not always appreciate that, recognize that, or honor that which you have given us.  Please help us to remember,  So that we may live a fuller, more meaningful life and share that with others so they , too, may live a fuller, more meaningful life.  In your name we pray, Amen. – Keith Moll

Oh kind and forgiving Lord, you have blessed us with so much. You have given us all we need and have been faithful through times to trial.  So many times we turn away from you.  We want to do things on our own, we want the glory and praise all to ourselves.  Please forgive us and guide us to appreciate you for the might King that you are.  Show us the way.  Make known your plan for our lives and help us to fully give our lives to that plan.  You deserve more than we can ever give you.  You deserve our hearts, soul and mind in the purity in which you created them.  In your precious name, Amen.

Other Writings

Somewhere along the Road of life that God has paved for men

Lies faith and truth and happiness and Love untouched by Sin

Where beauty rests, on nature’s breast, and each shall find his place

Through Jesus Christ our Lord and King and His eternal grace

Let not material things cause you to shed a tear

But close your eyes and bow your head and know that He is near

Let Him above who reigns with love show you the righteous way,

That you may follow in his steps, to be with him someday.

“Be quiet and listen.  So many things can seem to have such logical answers – if you just relax and listen -- this also can stream into the mainstream of family and friends -- neighbors, etc.”   Anonymous
