INVITE people seeking meaning in everyday life

BUILD healthier relationships with God, self, and others

CHANGE
the world through Christian discipleship and service

What this means for the Gardner community

INVITE – We believe we are called by God to tell others about the meaning of Jesus. Rather than thumping people over the head with the Bible, or pointing fingers at them, we focus our message-telling on authentic INVITATIONS to “Come and See. We believe that Evangelism is about counting conversations, not conversions. And if we strive for conversations, then conversions will happen as well.

BUILD – Relationships provide us with our highest high’s and our lowest low’s. Relationships are the “stuff” that life is made of. Still, we often find ourselves struggling to know how to love God, ourselves, and those closest to us. At FirstLight, we recognize the importance of relationships and find it our calling to “build healthier relationships with God, self, and others” in everything we do.

CHANGE
– The ultimate goal of FirstLight is to change the world. This requires more than hard work. Changing the world requires identifying what God is doing in the world and then following in that example. “A new kind of church” is more than just a collection of nice people.” Rather, a new kind of church is full of people who dedicate themselves to follow Jesus’ example (a.k.a. be a Christian disciple) and change the world through loving actions.

Our Mission to INVITE, BUILD, CHANGE, helps form our unique identity as FirstLight. This is what wakes us up in the morning and fuels our ministry Look around and you will see these themes continuing to characterize who we areas FirstLight.

The King will reply,

“I tell you the

truth, whatever you

did for one of the

least of these

brothers and sisters

of mine, you did

it for me.”
