SUNDAYS 9:00 AM AND 10:45 AM AT THE GARDNER EDGERTON HIGH SCHOOL COMMONS AREA

FirstLight opened its doors on Sunday March 20, 2005. It is our vision to be not just a new church, but “a new kind of church.”

This is what you can expect when you come to worship with us:

Relevant, Biblically based sermons that communicate deep, Scriptural truths in everyday language

Modern Christian songs and revived favorites “Gone Acoustic."

The Ancient Story coming alive for the Here and Now.

Children learning a Bible story with other kids in their own area using assorted crafts, games, and story telling.

Holy Communion during every Sunday morning that is open all people regardless of their age, gender, race, denomination, or how close they feel like they are to God. At FirstLight, ALL ARE ACCEPTED.

Creative opportunities to connect with God and with others

A Café offering you the ability to drink coffee and eat snacks during worship.

What Do I Do With My Kids?

On Sunday mornings, children are invited to take part in one of two age specific areas. “FirstSteps” is the name of FirstLight nursery open to children ages Birth – Pre-school. “The Studio” offers a special time of learning and fun for children grades Kindergarten – 4th Grade. In each area, children are taught how to grow in faith in their own ways, through Bible stories which are learned through story time, participative worship, and arts and crafts. The lessons the children learn will be Biblical principles that they will be able to use at home, school, and in the world.

Step 1 -Create Your Own Name Tag
After you and the other adults with you create your name tag you will continue to walk straight ahead to a sign-up table for our Children’s Ministries, FirstSteps (Children Birth through Pre-School) and The Studio (Children Grades K through 4th).

Step 2 - Sign-in Your Kids
At the sign-up table for FirstSteps and The Studio you will be invited to fill out some information about yourself and your child. This form requests important information such as food allergies, healthcare provider, and special needs.

Step 3 – Take Your Kids to the Marked Children’s Area
At 9:55 am you can take your children to the Children’s Area which is located to the left of our sanctuary space. Signs will help direct you. If you arrive earlier than 5-10 minutes before worship begins, please feel free to visit the Café and eat a snack with your children

Step 4 – You Worship; They Worship
With your children worshipping and having a good time at FirstSteps and The Studio, you join the others back at your seat for worship.

Step 5 – Pick Up Your Kids
When the last song has been sung, you are invited to pick-up your kids at the children’s area. There is a pick-up system in place to ensure that the right kids go home with the right parents.

Step 6 – Listen To Your Kids Tell You How Much Fun They Had
This step pretty much explains itself … but be prepared for it.

How Do I Go About Getting My Child or Myself Baptized?
Baptism is one of the two Sacraments recognized by FirstLight. A sacrament is a special kind of “grace gift” that God gives humans and asks for us to accept it. Since God “gives grace” to people of all ages, FirstLight, as a United Methodist Faith Community, baptizes children as well as adults.
If you are interested in learning more about Baptism and would like to explore the possibility of having yourself or your child baptized, email Pastor Steve at pastorstevenblair@yahoo.com. A.

Location
The school’s address is: 425 N. Waverly Rd. Gardner, KS 66030-8600.

“And where was I when

I was seeking for you?

You were there, in front

of me; but I had gone

away even from myself.

I could not even find

myself, much less

find you.”
