Every Sunday starting Jan. 17, children will start in worship, and then they will go back to their classrooms after songs and announcements, and then they will return to worship for communion and final songs.

FirstLight/kids is an exciting, interactive place for your kids to worship.  At FirstLight/kids we put the kids first; their care and experience are what matter to us.  Every Sunday we strive to teach the Word of God in relevant and meaningful ways to children.  We want a child’s church experience to impact their choices and actions.  Our volunteers and staff are enthusiastic about helping kids learn about God.

At FirstLight, kids are a vital and integral part of the worship time and church life.  Our goal is to provide spiritual opportunities for the youngest among us to help build healthier, happier families.  Each Sunday morning is filled with singing, skits, games, crafts, and lessons that open up an amazing world of Christ-centered learning for your kids.

First Steps Nursery.

First Steps Nursery is a loving, caring environment for our smallest participants.  Children from birth through 2-years-old are invited to come back to First Steps during worship where they will cared for by our fantastic staff.  Our youngest children come to laugh, sleep, and play in a warm, welcoming place.”

FirstLight/kids wants you to feel comfortable knowing that your littlest ones receive the best care.  So at each worship time, we provide a nursery with a wonderful, loving worker who will be there every Sunday so you and your child can recognize them.  Another adult is also present in faithful compliance of all Kansas and Methodist rules of Safe and Sacred Sanctuaries. All of our staff are state certified care-givers who have passed a series of background checks.

Littlelights.

Matthew 5:16: “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.” (Message)

Littlelights is where our pre-schoolers (3,4,5 yr. olds) learn about God. In littlelights we use “LilK”, a “Blues Clues” style-video-based curriculum. Through the interactive video, as well as age-appropriate games, activites, and crafts the kids learn about their relationship with God.  Lessons include “I Can Talk to God”, “I Can Be Brave”, “God’s Kid” and many others.  Littlelights is held in Room 304.

Spark.

James 3:5 “It only takes a spark to get a fire going”

Spark is where our elementary kids (K-4th Grade) explode in faith every Sunday morning! In Spark we use small groups and large group activities to keep the kids on their toes and on-the-move.  Each month in Spark we learn lessons that tie back to three truths: 1. I need to make the wise choice 2. I can trust God no matter what. 3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated.  Our curriculum is 252Basics and it reinforces these three truths though a virtue and memory verse each month as well as great games and activites, fun skits, and take-home information that gets the whole family involved. Monthly virtues have included “Fairness”, “Hope”, and “Resourcefulness”.

Get Involved.

Imagine serving in a ministry where you get the chance to tell children each week how much God loves them.  Imagine singing along to worship music that touches your heart and laughing and smiling with children.  Imagine getting to be a big kid while playing games. Where does this happen? In FirstLight/kids.

Get involved in FirstLight/kids… Be a littlelights or Spark leader, guiding the kids through the activites and lesson; be a littlelights or Spark assistant, leading a small group; welcome and sign in children at the registration table, volunteer in our nursery or join us for special FirstLight/kids event like Vacation Bible School or the Easter Party!  If you love the Lord and want to make a difference in the lives of children we would love to talk to you.
