Serve with FirstLight (Mission Ministry):

FirstLights offers opportunities for you to contribute your time and/or money to help others and make the community and world a better place to live.

Here are some of the ways that FirstLight is helping others…

Health Kits for Haitian Earthquake Survivors: FirstLight is collecting and sending health kits via UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) to the earthquake survivors in Haiti.  The health kits contain…

  • 1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”. No kitchen towels.
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
  • 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)
  • 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
  • $1.00 to purchase toothpaste (bought in bulk and so it doesn’t expire)

Bring one or more or all of these for as many health kits as you would like to provide to those in need.  To find out more about the health kits and UMCOR’s efforts to help the Haiti people, click on UMCOR.

Gardner Multi-Service Center: FirstLight continues to work with the Gardner Multi-Service Center to support families in need in Gardner.  FirstLight has collected Birthday Kits (cake mixes, frosting, candles, plates, napkins, and forks), food, deoderant, and other things for the Multi-Service Center.  Times are extremely tough for some families, causing cutbacks in many areas.  Some parents have had to make the difficult choice of not being able to afford essentials such as food, deoderant, or birthday cakes.  FirstLight is committed to continue to support the Gardner community.  Here are the smiles that you can put on young kids’ faces by helping FirstLight provide more birthday kits…

Global Ministry:

FirstLight has raised money for clean drinking water, solar cooking pots, an Ark (collection of animals) through Heifer International, care packages for troops serving overseas, schools and blankets for kids in Central America, and other humanitarian efforts.  The picture above shows one of two water pumps repaired through FirstLight’s donation.  The town is  Kennemah Town, Liberia.  The other repaired pump is located at Levuma Public School in Liberia.  Together, we have provided clean drinking water to over 1800 people!!!
