Worship Style:
FirstLight mixes traditional and contemporary styles to offer a warm and inviting worship style that is relevant and upbeat. This describes a lot about our Worship Style. So the categories of “traditional” or “contemporary” by themselves do not really fit us.
During worship you will see Tradition embraced through:
- Celebrating Holy Communion weekly that is open to all
- Reading of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds
- Singing old hymns in acoustic style
You will see Tradition re-imagined through:
- Allowing space for artistic expressions of worship
- Offering time for creative, tactile forms of prayer and reflection
- Singing new Christian songs with the help of a talented band
- Embracing corporate dialogue as an appropriate act of worship
You are invited to come worship with us and encounter God with FirstLight.
Dress:
Dress here is very casual. People are often seen wearing jeans, shorts, and some even go with the jean shorts.
The Dress Code is casual for reasons other than comfort (although that is a definite bonus). The casual dress at FirstLight symbolizes that you can “come as you are,” in more ways than the clothes you wear. Everybody is accepted here as they are.
